Pearls and Shell
Pearls are the oldest gemstone in recorded human human history. It has long been associated with as a status symbol among royalty and is a gemstone of importance in many cultures across the world. Unlike minded gemstones pearls are formed when a piece of sand, rock, or shell gets accidentally lodged in the oyster. This then causes the oyster to secrete a crystalline substance called nacre that builds around the irritant and a pearl is formed.
Pearls have long been associated with the moon and represent innocence, purity, faith, love, and balances emotions.
Abalone is the shell of a mollusk found in tropical waters. It represents harmony in relationships, gentleness, and intuition.
Mother-of-Pearl is from shells that are coated nacre. It represents peace, the healing energy of the sea, and equanimity.
